Esté Hupp, a free-spirited artist originally from South Africa,

now calls Columbus, Ohio home, where she lives with her husband and two kids. Esté's artistic journey began in childhood, fueled by a deep passion for sculpting. At just 12 years old, she earned first place in a global competition, with her winning sculpture finding a permanent home in Imari, Japan, a testament to her early talent.

During her many travels across Africa, Esté discovered the joy of sketching with charcoal and pencil, finding inspiration in the natural world around her. Fate led her to the USA, where she fell in love with a handsome midwestern boy, who encouraged her to explore painting. She experimented with watercolors and coffee painting, illustrating books and diving into digital art, yet her heart yearned for the richness of oil painting.

Up until now, you can see her work in many books published with Fair Winds Press, Quarto Books, and Epiphany Press, including books by authors Kelly Smith and Amanda Ashworth, as well as curriculum textbooks and student books for Gather Round Homeschool.

In her late 30s, Esté's dreams came true as she immersed herself in the Milan Art Institute, learning the techniques of the old masters in oil painting. Her art transports viewers to dreamlike realms, reflecting her deep spiritual connection with a loving God, inviting them to explore their own inner landscapes and embrace wonder and hope.

Esté's painting process is spontaneous and free, using oils with lots of drips and messy marks, a reflection of her vibrant spirit and the freedom she finds in her faith journey. Inspired by moments of daydreaming with God and divine dreams, she paints what she sees, drawing inspiration from the divine artistry of nature.

Currently painting in her cozy home studio, which also doubles as a homeschool classroom, Esté dreams of a larger space where she can freely create and share her passion with others. Her vision includes welcoming visitors into her studio, creating bespoke artworks, and nurturing fellow artists through teaching and workshops, embodying her desire to spread light, love, and hope through her artistry.

“Finding God in art and nature”

“In the beginning, God created…”

As I journey through life following God, I discover immense freedom and endless adventure with Him. Nature is God’s ever inspiring artwork, inviting me closer to Him, offering a sense of permanence and peace. I paint the places where our dreams intertwine, often amidst the splendor of nature.
